Floods disrupt busy hospitality season in Napier

Travellers heading to Napier for the holidays might have to try a little harder to find a bed as the busy summer season hits town. That's all thanks to the floods last month. One of the city's largest and most notable places to stay at is the Scenic Hotel Te Pania. Thats the big curved, white building that looks out over Marine Parade to the city's seashore. It usually houses hundreds of guests over the summer, but due to big flood repairs it's going to stay closed until at least the end of February. That shuts the doors for one of the biggest weekends on the city's calendar - Art Deco Weekend. The hotel's general manager Kerryann Gibbs spoke to our Hawke's Bay reporter Tom Kitchin as builders worked nearby.
