A young New Zealand golfer is realising a long-held dream this morning. Amelia Garvey will tee off shortly in her first round at the US Open in Texas, her first appearance at a Major. In her final year of a scholarship to the University of Southern California, Covid-19 had forced the 20-year-old Cantabrian to be at home for eight months before returning to the US early last week. With the pandemic continuing to surge stateside, Garvey told Clay Wilson she had to get through two Covid tests before being given the all clear to make her Major debut.
