American couple Matt and Lauren Urey were on their honeymoon on board the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Ovation of the Seas when they signed up for an excursion to Whakaari/White Island. Both suffered severe burns when the volcano erupted on December 9th last year. Thirteen parties have been charged over the eruption which claimed 22 lives. Michael Winkleman is the US based lawyer for Matt and Lauren who survived and Paul and Mary Singh who both passed away. Nathan Rarere asked how he felt when he heard Worksafe boss Phil Parkes describe the eruption as "unexpected but not unforseeable.."
