Auckland to unveil its draft 10-year plan post Covid
Cash-strapped Auckland Council is preparing to unveil its draft 10-year budget as the fiscal hole caused by Covid-19 threatens to exceed a billion dollars within a few years. The council lost much of its revenue from public amenities like libraries and swimming pools during the Covid lockdown, and dividends from Ports of Auckland and Auckland Airport. It has also had to fork out a quarter of a billion dollars to address the region's drought. So how is the city going to find the money? Nathan Rarere speaks with the Mayor of Auckland Phil Goff.
