AK's Heart of the City: beef up track and trace system

From First Up, 5:48 am on 16 November 2020

Auckland business group Heart of the City wants a beefed-up track and trace system so if Covid-19 does re-emerge, any restrictions can be confined to a smaller area. A student and retail worker who lives and works in the CBD tested positive on Thursday, while their neighbour has also returned a positive test result. The neighbour was already in Auckland's quarantine facility having been identified as a close contact. After the first case came to light the Government urged CBD staff to work from home if possible on Friday, inflicting yet another blow to businesses. Heart of the City boss Viv Beck told our producer Matthew Theunissen it would have been far worse had the case not been linked through genomic testing to an MIQ worker already known to health authorities.
