Covid income relief payments ends for 23.000 people
Almost 23-thousand people have come to the end of the covid income relief payment, without a job to go to. Figures from the Ministry of Social Development to the end of October show just over 5-thousand people have transferred from the payment onto the jobseeker benefit. It's possible there are thousands of others who are still looking for work, who aren't eligible for the benefit, because of the different rules and criteria. University of Auckland sociologist Louise Humpage told our social issues reporter Sarah Robson about the key differences.
