Coal burner ban could lead to rise in imported food

Dairy giant Fonterra supports a ban on all new coal boilers used to grow and manufacture food, and a transition period for phasing out existing boilers. But others in the food production sector say that putting the lid on coal before a viable alternative is found, will lead to a rise in imported food. The competing views are contained in submissions to a government discussion document on how to accelerate moves to cleaner alternatives. Fonterra's director of global sustainability, Carolyn Mortland told our reporter Tracy Neal why it's putting its money where its mouth is.
