US election results comes down to swing states and Florida
If there's one thing we can be certain of about today's US election it's that it will be confusing. As we know, even if Donald Trump or Joe Biden win the popular vote it's no guarantee they'll get the keys to the White House. The result will likely come down to just a handful of swing states, where both candidates have been sprinting to the finish in the leadup to the big day. Lauren Gambino is the Guardian's senior political correspondent in Washington and has a few pointers on which states to watch as the results start coming in. She reckons it'll come down to what she calls "future swing states", "past swing states", "rust belt states" and Florida. She explained this to our producer Matthew Theunissen, starting with the key rust belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
