Federated Farmers is worried that animal welfare could be put at risk if more Class Border Exemptions aren't granted for the agriculture sector. Last month, the Minister announced that up to 30 class border exemptions would be granted to fill the gap of livestock veterinarians. But according to the Veterinary Association, the workforce is short of more than two hundred vets and some are already burning out. Federated Farmer's Meat & Wool Chair, William Beetham told political reporter Charlie Dreaver the shortage is a concern, especially heading into the busy summer period.
