Scientists find abundance of water on the Moon

From First Up, 5:51 am on 27 October 2020

Nasa has just announced that water has been found on the moon. The liquidy discovery was made by scientists who analysed data from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA, which is a Boeing 747 aeroplane carrying a 2.7-metre reflecting telescope. In two studies published in the journal Nature Astronomy this week, the scientists found evidence of water "in abundance" on the Moon, probably stored within Moon glass or between grains of rock on the lunar surface. Nathan Rarere spoke with space scientist Dr Duncan Steel, who has worked for both NASA and the European Space Agency.
