A Swan that was shot with an arrow at Auckland's Western Springs Lake last week has been rescued, treated and is back with his family. The SPCA was called out on Friday afternoon to rescue the male black swan with an arrow in its chest .. but it took all weekend. It's the second incident this month after a mallard duck was also shot with an arrow a few weeks ago. Auckland SPCA Field Officer Kevin McArley was one of the three rescuers. He told our reporter Louise Ternouth he even camped out to try and catch the swan.
