MIQ guests concerned about food plastic waste
Disposable containers from millions of meals have gone straight to landfill from the country's managed isolation and quarantine hotels. To reduce the handling of waste or dishes and potential spread of Covid-19, meals are served in takeaway containers, sealed in rubbish bags by guests, then all treated as general waste. It comes as a concern to some people who have been in managed isolation like Australian woman Milli Steele, who stayed in Auckland's Grand Millenium Hotel in August. She surveyed 77 people who stayed in New Zealand managed isolation facilties and 47 people who stayed in Australian managed isolation facilties and asked their thoughts on the waste - then ran our reporter Katie Todd through the findings.
