Prof Michael Baker: WHO Covid-19 advice not helpful to NZ
A leading epidemiologist says the World Health Organisation's Covid-19 advice has not been helpful to countries like New Zealand. Professor Michael Baker's comments follow the WHO's special envoy on Covid 19, Dr David Nabarro, telling a British magazine that lockdowns should only be used to buy authorities time as they set up their defences against the virus. WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris rowed back on this position somewhat when she spoke to RNZ yesterday. But Professor Baker told our producer Matthew Theunissen this is another example of the WHO's advice being at odds with New Zealand's approach.
