Auckland Girls Grammar teacher on his commute to work

From First Up, 5:36 am on 23 September 2020

The south-bound lanes of the Auckland Harbour Bridge have just reopened after they were closed to traffic for eight hours overnight while repair work was carried out on the damaged truss. People heading to or from the North Shore have faced huge traffic jams since a truck toppled over in strong winds and damaged the bridge on Friday. All southbound were closed to traffic overnight - the clip-on lanes reopened at five this morning. The centre-span is still out of action in both directions. It usually takes Auckland Girls Grammar teacher Stafford Isaacs just 10 or 15 minutes to get to work from his home in Beach Haven, but it's been a very different story since the bridge was damaged. He spoke with Indira Stewart.
