Cannabis campaigner has her bank accounts closed

One of Kiwibank's Local Hero medal recipients has now been dropped as a client, and Kiwibank are closing her bank accounts. Long-time cannabis campaigner Rose Renton, who makes and sells medicinal cannabis products, was named last year as one of 14 Nelson regional Local Heroes for her work supporting the sick and vulnerable in the community with cannabis medicines. Last year she was discharged without conviction on a charge of cultivating cannabis after a judge found her offending was 'altruistic'. She has now been given 14 days' notice that her accounts with Kiwibank will be closed. Ms Renton told our reporter Tracy Neal they won't say why, but she has a fair idea.
