"Racism makes you sick"- Study shows Māori 50 percent more likely to die from Covid-19

New research shows Māori are 50 per cent more likely to die from Covid-19 than other ethnic groups. The Te Pūnaha Matatini study also found the number could be higher, depending on age and underlying health conditions. It comes on the same day research from the University of Otago shows self reported racism is linked to poorer healthcare, mental and physical health. Denise Wilson is a Professor of Maori Health and the Director of Taupua Waiora Centre for Māori Health Research at Auckland University of Technology, she spoke with Indira Stewart.
