Covid-19 impacts on youth mental health likely extensive

There's a warning the world is experiencing a growing silent pandemic - youth mental health - and the impacts of Covid-19 are likely to be extensive. Researchers back here fear urgency around the issue may be lost amidst the global Covid-19 crisis with New Zealand's youth suicide rates still among the highest in the OECD. University of Auckland's Koi Tu:The Centre for Informed Futures have released a report today which says New Zealand needs to better understand the rapid rise in mental health issues and work on strategies for prevention and intervention. Koi Tu affiliate and University of Otago professor Richie Poulton was one of the people who penned the report, and spoke with Indira Stewart.
