East coast iwi receive funding to restore Raukumara forest

After years of lobbying successive governments, iwi on the East Coast have finally received funding and support to restore the dying Raukumara Forest. The government has invested 34 million dollars to help eradicate thousands of pests which have destroyed the local ecosystem to the point where starving deers are eating bark off trees. Whanau say it shouldn't have taken this long, but they are glad the work can begin. Te Aniwa Hurihanganui reports.
