Neighbours near CHCH gas explosion kept in the dark by Worksafe

From First Up, 5:36 am on 17 July 2020

Neighbours near the home destroyed in a gas explosion last July are frustrated they've been kept in the dark about Worksafe's investigation into what happened. The blast obliterated the Marble Court property in Northwood, Christchurch one morning, injuring six people and propelling debris into dozens of homes up to a hundred metres away. Faye and John McGill were among 50 residents who had to be evacuated and the repair bill for their property came to a hundred thousand dollars. It's taken Worksafe almost a year to get touch to hear their side of the story. The McGill's are relieved by the agency has now charged two people, but they're unhappy about being ignored for so long. They told our reporter Katie Todd that the explosion has turned their lives upside down.
