Lauren Bruce: from gymnastics to hammer throw

There may not appear to be many similarities between gymnastics and the hammer throw, but South Canterbury's Lauren Bruce believes there are a few - and that helped her make a successful transition that has her close to Olympic selection. Lauren was a contender to make the Olympics this year despite only specialising on the hammer in recent months. Competing in athletics at the highest level probably wasn't on Lauren's mind 15 years ago when she was competing at a national level in gymnastics. But that all changed when injury hit in 2012.
