No Plastics July: give up one plastic item this month
An estimated 1.1 billion plastic shopping bags have been saved from New Zealand's environment since they were banned a year ago. According to the Ministry for the Environment the big winners are our rivers, coastline and wildlife, with environment groups reporting a drop in the amount of plastic bag litter washing up on our shores. Now there's a push to see if we can reduce our single use plastic consumption even more - by trying to give up at least one plastic item this month. First Up's Lydia Batham has more.
