Govt to strengthen managed isolation system

From First Up, 5:53 am on 29 June 2020

A review of the country's managed isolation system has found it's under extreme stress and unable to respond to increasing demand. In response the government will increase the number of clinical and non-clinical staff on site, increase security for transferring returnees and standardise procedures across facilities. They'll also strengthen forecasting - as the report found they were only finding out how many people were coming to New Zealand once planes were in the air, meaning sorting accomodation for those making the 3-hour fllight from Australia, was a scramble. Joining us now is University of Otago Epidemiologist, Professor Michael Baker.
