Queenstown Mayor wary of managed isolation facilities

The government has not ruled out looking further afield to set up managed isolation facilities, but with the school holidays fast approaching, there is concern locals may put off travelling. Bus loads of returnees were taken to Rotorua for the first time at the weekend, where two hotels have been commandeered for quarantine. There are thousands of empty hotel beds in Queenstown, where many hotels that rely on international tourists are hibernating. Mayor Jim Boult told reporter Amy Williams if the town was approached to house returning Kiwis quarantining for two weeks, he would consider it but feel wary.
