The Massey community has been rallying around the police whanau in west Auckland after the fatal shooting of Constable Matthew Hunt on Friday morning. The 28-year-old was killed and another officer shot in a hail of bullets during a routine traffic stop. The surviving officer, who was shot in his leg, has been discharged from hospital while a pedestrian hit by a car during the incident is recovering in hospital. At the Henderson Police Station, the flower wall continues to grow. One man there to pay respects, Rowan Dowling, told reporter Mackenzie Smith officers from the station helped his granddaughter in the past.
