Arts sector get govt funding boost of $95m +

The arts sector's been offered a lifeline with a government funding boost of more than 95 million dollars. The industy's among the hardest hit by the global pandemic, with museums and galleries forced to close, concerts and shows cancelled, and incomes decimated. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who's also the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, made the announcement at Te Papa yesterday. Funding wise, there's 25 million dollars for the national arts development agency, Creative New Zealand, 18 million for Te Papa, 2 million for a museum hardship fund, just over 2 million for Royal New Zealand Ballet and 31.8 million for Nga Taonga Sound & Vision.
