Mosque shooting victim uses donation money for house deposit

From First Up, 5:37 am on 11 March 2020

A man shot three times in the Al Noor mosque last year, says donation money he's received has made a huge positive impact on his life. By March 15 people affected by last year's mosque attacks will have received about 21 million dollars in donations. Although some victims are still asking for help to buy groceries - and the agencies distributing the money expect they'll still be supporting people for another year - Sheikh Hasan Rubel has put the donations he's received into a house deposit. His injuries mean he can still only manage half a day of work a week but he told our reporter Katie Todd, the house has given him financial security and a feeling of safety in Christchurch.
