Locals want more access to Milford Sound

From First Up, 5:12 am on 5 March 2020

Members of the public may get overnight access back into Milford Sound from the 16th of March. It's the first time the public would be allowed access to the tourist hotspot since the region was devastated by flooding early last month. Only tourist bus convoys and essential services have been allowed back in. The Transport Agency proposal included opening the road to the public from 5 P-M to 7 A-M, increasing the numbers of tourist bus convoys and shortening the convoy distance. Fiordland Recreation and Conservation Trust's Ian Carrick told reporter Tess Brunton it's a start, but locals want more access.
