It's hoped a temporary ban on the trade of wildlife in China following the covid-19 outbreak will soon become permanent. Scientists continue to try and confirm the source of the newest coronavirus - which has infected more than 70 thousand people and left more than 2,600 dead. The virus is believed to have been passed to humans from wildlife sold at a market in Wuhan - with research focused on bats, snakes and more recently pangolins - otherwise known as the scaly anteater. Gilbert Sape is World Animal Protection's Global Head of Campaign for Bears and Traditional Medicine and told First Up's Lydia Batham Pangolin's scales are commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine.
