HUHA workers leaving NSW still supervising rescue work

From First Up, 5:43 am on 28 January 2020

A tragic twist of fate saved a team of New Zealand volunteers in Australia from being in the spot where a plane came down last week. Three American firefighters died when their water bombing aircraft crashed near Cooma in New South Wales, last week. The Koala sanctuary they crashed into was where New Zealand animal charity Helping You Help Animals had been set to head early last week - but as co-founder Carolyn Press-McKenzie told First Up's Lydia Batham - another tragedy meant they postponed their journey to the site.
