Handel's Messiah, a timeless tradition for AK Choral

From First Up, 5:54 am on 16 December 2019

Music makes up a large part of how many of us feel about Christmas - carols and modern songs are pervasive everywhere as we go in to the build up to the season. That goes too for classical music lovers and one of the timeless traditions of Christmas is Handel's Messiah. At the Auckland Town Hall, the Piper Sinfonia will accompany Auckland Choral along with soloists Elizabeth Madeno, Tessa Romano, Manase Latu and Jarvis Dams as they perform Handel's most famous work tonight and tomorrow night. Producer Katrina Batten asked Auckland Choral Music Director Uwe Grodd about the history of the Messiah and its composer.
