Youth, Maori and single people most victimised of repeat crime

From First Up, 5:35 am on 10 December 2019

Young people, Maori and single people are some of the most vulnerable people in the country because they are victims of repeat crime each year. The Justice Ministry has just released its latest report from the Crime and Victim Survey - this looks at the four percent of people who experience nearly half of all crime each year - known as the "highly victimised" cohort. Some of the crimes included in the report - an ambulance driver who was assaulted by drunk people, as well as a security worker who regularly gets assaulted every time he's at a big event. James Swindells, from the Justice Ministry, told Jonathan Mitchell - young people aged between 15 to 29 are most at risk - and there's no signficant difference whether you're a man or woman, as well as location.
