The public will now decide whether terminally ill adults will be given the right to end their lives. MPs last night voted by 69 to 51 in favour of the End of Life Choice Bill, promoted by the Act MP David Seymour. But it won't become law unless it wins majority support in a referendum to be held at next year's general election. Lawyer Lecretia Seales fought for the right to end her own life after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. She died in 2015. Her mother Shirley Seales was in the gallery at Parliament last night. Shortly after the vote she told our parliamentary reporter Charlie Dreaver how thrilled she is with the result how proud she is of Lecretia.
