Trying to Rehome 5000 Chooks and 200 Quail

A Trade Me listing for one thousand chickens has brought to light the fate of more than 5000 of the birds. On Sunday, Steve Morrow from Hamilton won the auction - although there's since been some confusion over whether he thought he was buying all the birds, or just a few of them The seller was Matthew Blomfield - perhaps best known for successfully suing former Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater for defamation, before purchasing the blog site earlier this year. He told First Up' s Lydia Batham how he ended up trying to rehome thousands of chooks - as well as 200 quails.
