NZer runs Delhi marathon despite pollution and heat

From First Up, 5:27 am on 25 October 2019

This time last week, First Up brought you the story of 79 year old Sikh marathon runner Balbir Singh Basra who was hoping to finish his 14th marathon last Sunday in under 5 hours. That wasn't to be, he did finish - but in the time of 5 hours and 45 minutes. At the same time, another New Zealander was tackling a half-marathon - this time in New Delhi where pollution as well as heat were the biggest concerns. Jonathan Gil Harris is a professor of English at Ashoka Univeristy and has been based in Delhi since 2013. First Up Producer Jeremy Parkinson spoke earlier to Gil about the race and the Delhi's pollution battle.
