New Zealanders could soon be saying kia ora Siri thanks to new funding from the Government. The Northland based Te Hiku Media and Dragonfly Data Science has been given 13 million over seven years by the Government to create a platform which will digitise 25 years worth of Te Reo archives. The world first project will create a Te Reo digital dataset large enough for machine learning to create chat bots, online education, games, assistive learning, and transcription. Research Science and Innovation Minister Megan Woods told Political Reporter Charlie Dreaver a lot of the conversations happening in the world are now digital.
