Live Fire: Auckland's Mayor Phil Goff

Firefighters are still fighting the fire that has engulfed the roof of Auckland's under-construction $700 million International Convention Centre. The massive fire which began around 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, started on the building's top level and spread right across the roof. Last night, fire services abandoned the roof in fears that it might collapse and their strategy overnight was to try and stop the fire reaching below level 5. speaking to our reporter earlier - it's still not yet under control. Firefighters aboard more than 20 appliances, some which came from as far away as Hamilton, have been trying to control the blaze with gas cylinders, bitumen and insulation contributing to a toxic smell in the air. The entire SkyCity precinct was closed overnight, leaving hundreds of people locked out of their hotels..streets around the area have also been cordoned off. Auckland's mayor Phil Goff joins us live.
