From First Up, 5:43 am on 22 October 2019

Revolutionary facial recognition technology for sheep may change the face of farming in New Zealand. Dunedin company Iris Data Science have received 40-thousand dollars from Callaghan Innovation to prototype the software, which works on the same principles as human facial recognition. The company hopes to have the prototype ready this year in the hopes of showcasing it in action on a farm in Otago or Southland early next year. Iris Data Science's managing director, Greg Peyroux, told First Up about the benefits of the technology and how it fits into the future of farming.
