From First Up, 5:20 am on 17 October 2019

A passerby has described the aftermath of a dramatic police chase yesterday afternoon that ended with a car crashing onto a platform at a South Auckland train station and the driver being tasered. The pursuit began when patrol units and the police eagle helicopter were monitoring a stolen car as it fled across the city, swerving across lanes and driving into oncoming traffic. The police say the car travelled through Mt Wellington and Otahuhu before hitting another vehicle - whose occupants were not injured. The fleeing car continued on before crashing through a fence onto the platform at Middlemore train station. The police say they attempted to arrest the four occupants of the car and used a taser while trying to apprehend the driver, who subsequently had a medical event and was taken to hospital. Ben Ross was on a train heading to the city that passed through the station after the car had driven onto the platform. He told reporter Amy Williams what he saw.
