Silver Ferns beat Australia in Constellation Cup opening match

The Silver Ferns have beaten Australia 53-52 in the opening Constellation Cup test in Christchurch in a classic encounter between the netball rivals. It was the first time New Zealand has had back to back victories against Austraila in four years and confirmation that their World Cup victory wasn't a one off. Silver Ferns coach Noeline Taurua recruited Australian coach Jane Woodlands-Thompson for this series as a specialist coach. Woodlands-Thompson told RNZ Sports reporter Bridget Tunnicliffe she wasn't suprised it came down to one goal.
