Changes to electricity industry should bring cheaper power

Struggling families are being promised cheaper power bills under changes to the electricity industry. There are 20 proposals in the Electricity Price Review among them a plan to force companies to ditch prompt payment discounts meaning all customers pay the same lower but actual cost. Consumer NZ is backing the move saying the so-called discount is actually a penalty for those who can never pay early. Chris Martin from the charitable trust Super Grans told our political reporter Jo Moir the current system disadvantages many families.
