Man prosecuted for failing to put his suffering dying dog down
A man has been prosecuted for failing to put his dying dog out of its misery, but only because he couldn't bear to lose his life-long friend. Michael Morehu was sentenced in the Hutt Valley District Court yesterday after he failed to listen to veterinary advice and put his sick dog down in 2016. Zeus, the male husky crossbreed was found wandering the streets two years later still suffering with large cancerous lesions on his face, nose and mouth that had displaced his left eye and limited his ability to eat. Our reporter Charlotte Cook spoke to SPCA's Chief Executive Angela Midgen about the prosecution.
