TJ Perenara, the All Blacks haka kaea on being a haka student

From First Up, 5:22 am on 2 October 2019

The Barrett brothers will be making history tonight when the All Blacks face Canada in their second Rugby World Cup pool game tonight. Beauden, Scott and Jordie will be the first trio of siblings to start a World Cup match for New Zealand, while there are 16 World Cup debutants in the matchday 23. While Canada are expected to be easy beats, it will be interesting to see whether captain Kieran Read co-leads the haka alongside TJ Perenara again, after doing it for the first time against the Springboks in Yokohama in their opening game last week. Rugby reporter Joe Porter is in Beppu and spoke to Perenara, the All Blacks haka tutor, about what it means for pakeha Read to lead, and about being a student of haka.
