Ardie Savea will wear goggles during RWC match vs Canada

From First Up, 5:54 am on 2 October 2019

World Rugby hope Ardie Savea wearing goggles during tonight's game will inspire children with vision impairment to take up the sport. Savea has reduced eyesight in his left eye, so has decided to play wearing goggles to protect vision in his right eye. He's only the second international player to wear them - the first - Italian player Johnny McKinley has worn them for a number of years, after going blind in one eye following an accident in a ruck. First Up producer Lydia Batham spoke to World Rugby's Head of Communications, Dominic Rumbles, who said these goggles have a been a long time coming.
