Questions raised about how cruise ships manage waste

A Kiwi who went on a cruise in Canada has raised questions about how these huge ships get rid of their rubbish. Russell Wells is a Wellington based mechanical tradesman who used to work on diesel engines in the rail industry. It's why he captured images of thick, blue smoke belching from the funnel of a large, luxury cruise liner. He told our reporter Tracy Neal his interest in shipping and what it does with waste was founded during a sea passage to New Zealand as a youngster.
