Paul Buchanan:drone attacks on Saudi oil plants a first

From First Up, 5:50 am on 16 September 2019

Strategic analyst Paul Buchanan says Saturday's drone strikes on Saudi Arabian oil facilities represent the first time non-state actors have used drone technology to such devastating effect. Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for Saturday's attacks, while the United States pinned blame on its rival Iran. The Saudis lead a Western-backed military coalition supporting Yemen's government in the country's bloody civil war, while Iran backs the rebels. Mr Buchanan, who runs the consultancy 36th Parallel, told First Up producer Matthew Theunissen that these were the first attacks of their kind.
