Govt's suicide prevention plan 2 years late

From First Up, 5:51 am on 10 September 2019

Today, on world suicide prevention day, the Prime Minister and Health Minister will announce a suicide prevention plan. It comes just two weeks after we found out suicide rates in New Zealand had reached a record high - with 685 people taking their own life. For Maori there'd been an increase of 19 percent on the previous year, with 169 Maori people taking their own life. Matthew Tukaki's the chairman of the Maori Council and the former chair of Suicide Prevention Australia joins me in the studio now.
