The Mental Health Foundation says the government needs to look at more funding for DHB's as part of their mental health plan. Yesterday the foundation welcomed the government's announcement to boost funds for mental health services but says District Health Boards have been understaffed and overstretched affecting services on the ground. The government announced a thirty-six million dollar boost to the sector - most of which will go towards creating new, free mental health services in areas that don't have them. The investment is part of the $455m the government set aside for front-line services in this year's budget. The foundation's spokesperson, Sophia Graham says it's encouraged by the investment which will go a long way towards tackling the issue.
