Pacific leaders tired of waiting for cultural centre

From First Up, 5:40 am on 22 August 2019

Pacific leaders say they're tired of waiting for a cultural centre and are calling on Auckland Council to act. The community says they talked to the former National government about it four years ago and a feasibility study has already been done. It found that building and operating a cultural centre was financially viable under certain conditions such as targeting international visitors from Auckland Airport and operating six days a week. The chairman of the Pacific Leadership Forum, Teleiai Edwin Puni told our reporter Jessie Chiang he has now launched a petition asking Auckland Council to fund the centre.
