AA recommends premium price be advertised on petrol boards

Fuel retailers are being pushed to advertise premium fuel on the big advertising boards to broaden price competition. The Commerce Commission has found the retail fuel sector is not as competitive as it could be and motorists may be paying too much. In a draft report, the watchdog says many fuel companies are highly profitable, and getting better returns than might be considered reasonable. The AA's petrol watch spokesperson, Mark Stockdale, says a long-standing issue is the higher price of premium fuel and the lack of advertising.
