Are we harming the environment by washing clothes too much?

From First Up, 5:38 am on 10 July 2019

An early morning discussion here at First Up after the show yesterday, had the production team wondering about how often they wash their clothes and ourselves. According to a report out of the UK, we wash our clothes too often, and for the wrong reasons. In 2016, the CEO of Levi's Chip Burr said that washing a pair of his company's jean should be done infrequently - and spot stains can be attended to with some detergent and a toothbrush. Are we washing too much? And what effects are we having on the environment by being too clean? Freshwater ecologist Dr Mike Joy is here to tell us all about it.
